Trump Versus the Hive, part 21
By Daniel Ben Abraham
Trump, and British Boris Johnson What we are experiencing is not just an American problem. There are near-perfectly contemporaneous parallel battles between Left and Right ongoing in many other Western democracies wrestling with the same ideological challenges.
A PeaceMatrix™ question broadening the scope may “zoom out” and ask “What broader patterns do we see that may help us better understand the ideological phenomena at work?”
Nearly simultaneously with Trump’s first impeachment, happening in Israel, Prime Minister Netanyahu, whose brother was also a hero who died rescuing Jews taken hostage in Entebbe, was also being prosecuted for “corruption” by members of Israel’s political Left, for matters like receiving champaign and cigars, and seeking favorable media coverage.
Israel Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the longest serving and Prime Minister in Israel’s history, and again a conservative (1996-1999) (2009-2021) (2022-present), has had the following corruption scandals, charges, and investigations against him:[1]
- Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit sought to bring fraud charges against Sara Netanyahu, the Prime Minister’s wife, for meals cooked and served at the prime minister’s residence.
- Case 1000 - the allegation that Netanyahu and his wife received cigars and champaign as gifts
- Case 2000 - the allegation that Netanyahu tried to get positive media coverage in the news (unbelievable for a politician, right?)
- Case 4000 - the allegation that Netanyahu failed to disclose a friendship
Also, in September, 2019, British Prime Minster Boris Johnson was likewise being investigated for alleged wrongdoing in the form of conflicts of interests and a possible criminal investigation over an American businesswoman, and apparently another Parliamentary watchdog investigation into who lent him use of a vacation house on a Caribbean holiday.[2]
Conservative French President Nicolas Sarkozy was also convicted in 2021 for trying to obtain information about a case he was involved in.
Cigars, champaign, and use of a vacation house, oh my!
Compare this to Clinton friend Jeffrey Epstein, for whom “Public records show that the $77 million Upper East Side townhouse was transferred to Epstein for $0 in 2011”[3] Or, compare this to the tens of millions purportedly received by the Clinton Foundation and the Biden family.
To us, we laugh at the investigations in Israel and the UK as obviously trivial and politically motivated. The idea that a person who devotes his life to serving and protecting their nation and whose brother is a fallen hero would sell out their nation, and be prosecuted, over champaign and cigars, or use of a vacation house, is obviously silly, as these are obviously small gestures and gifts, but not serious bribery.
That’s probably how the world sees Trump’s prosecutions for retaining his own documents, or filing legal challenges for the first election whose majority won by mail. Much of the world is thinking, “I thought you had the right to question elections in a democracy.”
Yes. We did.
The fact that this is happening in the United States, and simultaneously in the United Kingdom, and simultaneously in Israel, the most similar Left-Right divided Western democratic countries is not coincidence. In each case, the political Left is using law enforcement to target the political Right’s leadership, simultaneously, is a dangerous global ideological phenomenon.
All conservative leaders in Western democracies did not suddenly all become criminals.
Western Liberalism has flourished in these Western democracies, but then combined with Leftism. Because, if you are an open-minded liberal, why not be so open-minded as to accept Leftism also, right?
What you are seeing is the liberal mindset compelled by Leftist ideology to find new and creative ways to be an “activist”, and seek what they believe to be “justice”, using the powers at hand – now, suddenly law enforcement.
It is an obvious combination of:
- the “open-mindedness” and “creativity” of liberalism to explore new and uncharted areas,
- combined with the activist nature of Leftism against the establishment (despite now being the law-enforcers), and…
- the Left ideological compulsion to attack the more religious, grounded, and establishment ideology.
What you are seeing are markers of an ideological war breaking down established systems that maintain peace. You are seeing an ideological Entity affecting the rational and reasonable judgment of countless investigators and prosecutors who believe they are behaving rationally, yet are crossing political boundaries and norms that previously have never been crossed. And all the while, the side doing it sees it as just and necessary prosecution of criminals, and simply following of the law.
They see their actions as rightfully defending against a perceived greater threat in the other leader. In their hearts, they feel they are doing justice. Logic and reason then follow in support, cherry-picking those facts and viewpoints that justify what they feel emotionally, justified by a like-minded and skewed mainstream media.
In reality, they are perverting a set of over-broad laws that until now have functioned only due to an ideologically aligned nation and its sound prosecutorial discretion.
Who is right does not matter.
The legal technicalities do not matter.
What matters is that one side has the power to use the law against the other in unprecedented ways, and the other side can’t do the same back. Eventually, this leads to a failure of confidence in fundamental institutions like the DOJ, FBI, and government as a whole, and unless balance is re-established, eventually a civil war, like we are increasingly seeing signs of across many Western democracies.
Internationally, dictatorships are increasingly seen as more secure and reliable, and democracies less so. And that’s why much of the world is flocking to side with them.
